2010 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" (94BH, 94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Apricots, peaches, smoke and licorice are some of the many nuances that jump from the glass in the 2010 Meursault Charmes. The 2010 possesses stunning textural richness and depth all the way through to the voluptuous, palate staining finish. In 2010, Jobard’s Charmes is pure elegance. (AG)" (08/2012)

2006 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana (96RP, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Saffredi is the bombastic, kaleidoscopic wine it has always been. In fact at times it resembles a barrel sample, given its superb vibrancy and freshness! Dark wild cherries, herbs, graphite, spices, tobacco and leather come together beautifully in this focused, powerful Saffredi. Today the 2006 is decidedly virile and youthful, but there is no doubt it has the sheer depth of material to drink beautifully to age 20, and likely beyond. The 2006 is a marvelous Saffredi, but patience is required. (AG)" (05/2011)

2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (1.5L)
Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (1.5L) (100RP, 98JS, 96VN, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically – a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut down i

2010 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Montrose, St-Estèphe (100RP, 97JS, 97WS, 96WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is considered to be among the greatest vintages ever made in Montrose, right up with the 1929, 1945, 1947, 1959, 1961, 1989, 1990 and 2009. Harvest was October 15 to 17. The wine has really come on since I last tasted it, and it needs at least another 10 years of cellaring. The blend was 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine is opaque black/blue, with an incredible nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur, with hints of incense, licorice, and acacia flowers. Tannins are incredibly sweet and very present. The wine is full-bodied, even massive, with great purity, depth and a finish that goes on close to a minute. This is a 50- to 75-year-old wine that will repay handsomely those with good aging genes. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (93BH, 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also notably ripe with aromas of warm earth, plum, black cherry and humus. There is exceptional richness, size, weight and power to the full-bodied, concentrated and driving flavors that brim with an abundance of mouth coating and tannin-buffering dry extract on the hugely long, very firm and moderately austere finish." Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Deeper, richer, earthier with an intense sauvage character on both the nose and the palate as there is an unmistakable animale quality that the more elegant Charmes does not have. There is real depth and length here and the balance is most impressive." (01/2004)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vignes Rondes" ((90-93BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* Here the aromatic profile is completely different with dark berries, plum, spice and violets. There is fine concentration to the velvet textured medium weight flavors that possess plenty of dry extract that successfully buffers the otherwise very firm and moderately rustic tannins on the exceptionally long finish. This is very Nuits and clearly built to age so there is no point buying this if you do not intend to cellar if for the long-term." (01/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((90-93BH), 91ST, 90WE). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Rich, earthy, backward and powerful black fruit aromas merge into robust, muscular, intense and massive flavors that deliver plenty of mid-palate punch and this is a good deal less austere than it usually is at this early stage. That said, this is a very serious and reserved wine that should age for two decades." (01/2004)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine de Courcel Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" (91VN, 90ST). Vinous: "Medium red with a hint of amber. Plum, mocha and truffle on the complex nose, even a hint of maple syrup. A very silky, edge-free wine with lovely sucrosité and thickness to its mellow red fruit and underbrush flavors. Has just enough acidity to maintain its shape. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins that avoid dryness and noteworthy rising length. A major success for the vintage and in a sweet spot right now. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chenes" (94BH, 93RP, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too serves up a remarkably layered if extremely reserved nose that displays plenty of earth and spice as well as very fresh and cool aromas of red and blue pinot, floral notes and an obvious mineral influence that continues onto the tautly muscular and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that are long, serious and focused on the presently austere finish. It's interesting to compare the quality of the tannins between this and the Caillerets - here they are denser but less fine and as a consequence, this will need a few extra years of cellar time. *Outstanding*" (05/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Francois Bertheau Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru (92BH, 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly riper and terrifically layered nose of intensely earthy red berry fruit aromas that give way to rich, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that are certainly more powerful though by the typical standards of a terres rouges-based Bonnes Mares, it's actually quite refined. Like the Amoureuses, this is an extremely elegant version of the appellation yet should repay up to seven to eight years of cellar time though it will be drinkable well before that." (01/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Champeaux" ((93-94RP), 93WS, (90-92BH)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mortet’s 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux (from very old vines) smells of ripe cassis, meats and chalk along with subtle spice and vanilla, displays formidable density, firmness, and fine-grained texture on the palate yet persistent brightness and elegance, and finishes with palate-staining, bitter-edged black fruits and chalky, salty minerality. This low-toned, overtly mineral beauty should evolve impressively over at least the next 12-15 years. (DS)" (04/2007)

Thick and concentrated; at once sweet and serious. Finishes with big but fine, horizontal tannins. Can't match the '99 for sweetness and verve, but this is excellent. (ST)" (03/2001)

Bid on this 5L-bottle lot of 2011 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (5L) (OWC - 94RP, 93JS, 93VN) in original wood. Soft, opaque purple-colored, with a ripe, full-bodied mouthfeel and notes of graphite, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry fruit, it is full-bodied, luscious, and ideal for drinking over the next 12-15 years. Wonderfully complex, vibrant nose combines cherry, gravelly minerality, smoke, leather and truffley underbrush. Offers a compelling combination of sweetness of fruit and energy; here a subtle hint of herbs just adds to the appeal of this densely packed, utterly fresh wine. 2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 96CG, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 boasts an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, violets, blackberries, creme de cassis and hints of charcoal and barbecue in addition to a full-bodied, multilayered mouthfeel that builds incrementally with great purity, staggering fruit concentration, and a long, velvety, 50+-second finish. 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache (97RP, (95-97VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Starting with the Grenache release, the 2012 Grenache Stein is a blend of 76% Grenache, 16% Syrah, and 8% Mourvedre, aged in 14% new French oak (15% was in concrete), that comes mostly from the estate's Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, but also includes grapes from the Cumulus, Third Twin (Syrah) and Bien Nacido vineyards. Checking in at 15.7% alcohol, it's no lightweight, yet it has considerable elegance in its sweet blackcurrants, white pepper, licorice, baking spices and hints of violet-like aromas and flavors. Possessing the hallmark purity of the estate, it's full-bodied, concentrated, rich and textured, with sweet tannin barely noticeable on the finish. I don't think it's one of the greatest Grenaches from the estate, yet it's still an incredible effort that will benefit from short-term cellaring and have 15-20 years or more of overall longe

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reminding me of a top Hermitage, the 2012 La Sangre de Jonata checks in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that's aged primarily in neutral and larger oak barrels. It's flat-out gorgeous in 2012 and gives up tons of black raspberry, crushed violets, cracked pepper and hints of game. 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. 2014 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Celia Welch has hit a home run again with the legendary J.J. Cohn Vineyard in Rutherford, a site that includes a block of old vines planted in 1945, which certainly must make them some of the oldest Cabernet vines in all of Napa Valley. There are 2,000 cases of the 2014 Monsieur Etain, which is a great enough Cabernet by itself. Wonderfully pure crème de cassis notes with some white flowers, lead pencil shavings and incense are followed by a deep, full-bodied wine with silky tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel and a beautiful finish of 40+ seconds. This is an exquisite, dense, rich but sexy Cabernet Sauvignon. And now for the good news -- there are 2,000 cases of it. Drink it over the next 20 or more years. (RP)" (12/2016)

2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, (98-100RP), 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2013 was characterized by slightly more clusters, but they were smaller with very tiny berries. The vintage itself was another warm, drought year, but like 2012, there were no real spikes of heat. Growing conditions – other than the continued drought in California – were easy. These wines share the same characteristics with the 2012s and I’ll have a greater peg on them once they’re in bottle, but as you can tell, the production ranges from a very small 240 cases of the Georges III in Rutherford to 640 cases of the Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon LPV. Wines, at least from barrel, that have three-digit score potential include the Cabernet Sauvignon RBS from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon T-6 and the Cabernet Sauvignon LPV from the Las Piedras Vineyard. 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle lot of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (99RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extraordinary effort, Yquem's 1990 is a rich and fabulously superb, sweet wine. This wine also possesses lots of elegance and finesse. The wine's medium gold color is accompanied by an exceptionally sweet nose of honeyed tropical fruits, peaches, coconut, and apricots. High quality, subtle toasty oak is well-integrated. The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-bodied power and richness have created a wine of remarkable harmony and purity. Certainly it is one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity. An awesome Yquem! Anticipated maturity: 2003-2050+. (RP)" (04/1999)

2010 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Butteaux"
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Butteaux" (95RP, 95VN, 93BH, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I ordered a bottle of the 2010 Chablis 1er Cru les Butteaux at the impeccable Au Fil du Zinc restaurant in Chablis and immediately grabbed my pen to scribble a tasting note. This is such a scintillating Chablis, one that encapsulates everything great about the 2010 vintage. The nose is mineral through and through--imagine getting down on your hands and knees and just inhaling limestone after a shower. The palate continues that tensile, mineral-driven theme. It is incredibly tense, perhaps benefiting from a slight, but pleasant reduction towards the finish, with awesome length and precision. What a fantastic Butteaux from Domaine Raveneau. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Roulot Meursault "Les Tessons - Clos de Mon Plaisir" (92BH, 91RP, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An expressive nose of lemon, lime, white peach, spice hints and ripe pear gives way to rich and fuller-bodied flavors that possess excellent intensity and detail on the powerful, focused, chiseled and moderately austere finish that displays a beguiling mouth feel. As good as the Tillets is, there is another dimension present here. Either way, you can't lose. *Outstanding*" (07/2010)

2008 Domaine des Chézeaux (Ponsot) Clos-St-Denis Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine des Chézeaux (Ponsot) Clos-St-Denis Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes. Praise for the producer from Antonio Galloni in Wine Advocate: "Jerome Chézeaux farms a total of 11.2 hectares of vineyards, of which 6.6 are estate owned. The fruit is 100% destemmed. Chezeaux favors fairly lengthy macerations. New oak levels are on the low side. As is the case at many estates, the 2009s have a slight upper hand in many of the entry and mid-level wines, while at the high end the 2008s are superb. Either way, these are some of the most beautiful, classically built wines I tasted on my trip. Patience is required, though, as these are sturdy wines that need bottle age." (5/2011)

2008 Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay 1er Cru "Les Caillerets - Ancienne Cuvée Carnot"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay 1er Cru "Les Caillerets - Ancienne Cuvée Carnot" ((90-93BH), (92-93RP), 92WE, 92WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Around 60% of the crop that informed Bouchard’s 2008 Volnay Caillerets Ancien Cuvee Carnot was spared by the July hail, and around 40% of that remainder declassified. But these circumstances still leave 8-9,000 bottles worth, which I tasted from tank. Musky narcissus, smoky Lapsang black tea, and black fruits on the nose lead to a silken-textured yet invigorating, subtly tart but berry-ripe palate suffused with chalk and savory salinity. This finishes with precisely the sort of “animated interchange of fruit, mineral, and inner-mouth floral elements” I credited to the 2006, and here the effect is both strikingly buoyant and positively reverberative. A bottle opened 24 hours earlier (for Michel Bettane, as it happens) had not lost any of its allure. I would look for at least 15 years of excitement. (DS)"

2014 Sine Qua Non "Light Motif" Central Coast Proprietary White Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Sine Qua Non "Light Motif" Central Coast Proprietary White Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Starting with the whites and a rich, thrillingly concentrated and unctuous wine from Manfred, the 2014 White Wine Lightmotif is made from 47% Roussanne, 21% Chardonnay, 14% Petite Manseng, 11% Viognier and 7% Marsanne that spent 19 months in a combination of concrete eggs, new French oak, neutral barrels and a tiny portion in stainless steel. Coming from close to equal parts Eleven Confessions, Cumulus and Bien Nacido vineyards, this beauty sports a medium gold color to go with a rich, layered profile that carries tons of ripe peach, honeycomb, pineapple, flowers and citrus. Pure, elegant and silky on the palate, with full-bodied richness, it never puts a foot wrong, is ethereally textured and has a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. (JD)" (08/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Hospices de Beaune (Maison Louis Jadot) Corton-Cuvée Charlotte-Dumay Grand Cru (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is enough reduction present to warrant decanting this if you insist on committing infanticide! Otherwise the very rich and full-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration where the supporting tannins are markedly firm on the sappy and palate coating finish. This is going to required extended cellaring as it's presently very backward, indeed to the point where I wouldn't think about touching a bottle for at least 5 years and 10 would probably be necessary." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Descendientes de Jose Palacios "Villa de Corullón" Mencía Bierzo (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Curiously the 2010 Corullon at this stage of development shows the effect of the wood-aging more than the younger 2011. Right now it is a lot more restrained than the 2011. You have to deep-dive into the glass to understand the wine. The fruit is more acidic strawberry, denoting freshness. It is linear rather than round, acute rather than low with superb balance and delineation, fine acidity and very good length. You really have to pull out the wine, as the palate follows the same pattern as the nose, which is not always the case. With wonderful acidity, it is a wine for the long haul. Drink 2015-2025. 2012 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93RP, 92VN, 92WS, 91ST, 90CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a beautiful wine that comes from four vineyards, Gap’s Crown, Griffin’s Lair, Terra de Promissio and Walala. It has a deep ruby/semi-opaque color that is followed by a youthful, rich and concentrated wine offering classic dark cherries, plum, licorice, ground herbs and baking-spice-driven aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, layered and structured, it opens up beautifully with air, has seamlessly integrated fruit, tannin and alcohol, and stays classy and nicely focused on the finish. It can be enjoyed now with a decant, but will be better in another year, and have over a decade of longevity. (JD)" (10/2014)

2015 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2015 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((94-97VN), 94RP). Vinous: "A rich, layered wine, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon exudes power. Inky blue and purplish-hued stone fruits hit the palate first, followed by intriguing scents of lavender, sage, mint, graphite and herbs. Deep, powerful and explosive, the 2015 has so much fruit that the tannins are nearly buried, but they are there. Small berries and huge tannins add to the wine's considerable personality. The 2015 is a brilliant wine in the making. (AG)" (12/2016)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon George III Vineyard is a little broody at this youthful stage, opening out to a complex array of earthy/savory aromas, including notes of smoked meats, tar and fertile loam, with a crème de cassis and blueberry compote core and touches of aniseed, sautéed herbs and rose hip tea. Full-bodied and laden with loads of subtle earth, meat and spice nuances complementing the black and blue fruits, it has firm, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and layered. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" (95BH, 94RP, 94VN, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "It will not surprise lovers of this wine that in the 2+ years that have passed since I last reviewed this wine from bottle, not a great deal has changed. As such, it seems appropriate to simply repeat that review here: This would be almost impossible to miss this wine's origins as the marine influence on the pungently mineral, airy and superbly elegant nose is extremely strong with Chablis character to burn. The seductive middle weight flavors brim with dry extract, which does a perfect job of buffering the structural elements on the mouth coating and sappy finish that seems to go on and on. This is very Preuses in its Zen-like sense of harmony and is clearly very classy juice. I would add however that this seems a bit further along than the Vaulorent and actually could be enjoyed now even though it's still definitely on the way up. " (05/2013)

2006 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2006 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (1.5L) (96RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chardonnay Lauren Vineyard is a brilliant effort. One has to admire Aubert’s ability to turn out something of this majesty in such a challenging year when so many Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards were filled with botrytis. Lemon blossom, orange marmalade, and white currant aromas jump from the glass of this light straw-colored cuvee with a greenish hue (a characteristic that also appears in the Aubert 2007s). Beautiful notes of tropical fruits and crushed rocks are present in this gorgeously rich, full-bodied, well-focused Chardonnay. All the Aubert Chardonnays offer abundant power, vivid acidity, and dramatic, laser-like focus." (12/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming from Coombsville AVA, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Teucer Vineyard is one of those real stand-out, singular wines, revealing a deep purple-black color and profoundly intense nose of cassis, black soil and black cherries with hints of charcoal, allspice, violets and dark chocolate plus a waft of dried leaves. Subdued aromas of red fruits, spices and violet convey a medicinal restraint. On the lean side and showing its acidity now, but with good definition to the flavors of red fruits, violet and spices. 2006 Enrico Serafino Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Enrico Serafino Barolo    . Enrico Serafino has vineyards located throughout Piedmont's Langhe Barolo region, including choice districts such as la Morra, Serralunga, and Monforte. From these distinguished vineyards, Serafino produces a traditional Barolo, but with modern finesse. The fruit is entirely de-stemmed and then undergoes a fermentation and racking process to gently extract the necessary tannins for longevity and structure. This generous Barolo is everything you want from Nebbiolo - full body, with black fruit notes, complemented by savory notes of leather and tobacco with lifting floral notes of rose petal and heather. The 2006 has harmonized perfectly, and is an extraordinary value for the price.

2011 Dominio de Pingus "Psi" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Dominio de Pingus "Psi" Ribera del Duero (91RP, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 PSI is pure Tempranillo from a diversity of small plots of old vineyards in different zones of the Burgos province, always north of the Duero river. The grapes fermented in cement vats and aged in a combination of used barrels from Pingus, oak vats and cement tanks. It is a bright ruby red, with notes of plums and very well-integrated wood. But what really surprised me is the palate: still medium-bodied, somehow austere and lineal, straight rather than round, not showing the warmth of the vintage or alcohol at all. It only shows some toasty notes that are not excessive and that should disappear with a bit of time in the bottle. 160,000 bottles were produced. (LG)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Elvio Cogno Barolo Bricco Pernice (96VN, 94RP, 93WE, 92JS, 91W&S, 90WS). Vinous: "The 2009 Barolo Bricco Pernice is easily one of the wines of the vintage. A dark, mysterious wine, the 2009 emerges from the glass with dark red cherries, plums, menthol, sage and sweet tobacco. The 2009 Bricco Pernice has it all; expressive aromatics, layered fruit and fine tannins that are exceptionally rare in this challenging vintage. The 2009 is plush, deep and beautifully resonant, but never heavy. I imagine the 2009 will start softening a bit in a few years, but it is already virtually impossible to resist. Cogno has done a great job here. The 2009 spent three years in cask, all of which it needed. (AG) 96+" (01/2014)
